Muddy Water Waipara Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 24-Oct-2012
Fruit from the organic ‘Muddy Water' vineyard, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 25 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 3 months. Bright, full, even straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is very tight, firm, but finely expressed with a complex amalgam of citrusy fruits with reductive flint, wet stones and mineral notes, growing with depth and intensity. Medium in sweetness, the complex flavours of yellow florals, citrus fruits and flint combine with honey elements forming a soft, rich, rounded mouthfeel with good weight and presence. There is fresh acidity underlining and driving the palate, and along with a fine textural thread from the reduction, the flavours lead to a moderately long finish with limes, honey and minerally nuances. This is a medium Riesling with complex fruit and reduction interaction and plenty of presence. It will develop with interest over the next 4-5+ years. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine. 17.5/20 Oct 2012 RRP $27.95
