MS clone fruit from two sites on Georges Road, including the ‘Terrace Edge' vineyard, 90% fermented in old French oak barriques to 13.0% alc. and 2 g/L rs., the 10% tank portion undergoing batonnage. Bright straw-yellow colour with a light golden hint, pale on rim. The nose is soft, open and broad with aromas of gooseberries and nectarines, lifted with herb and esters elements and harmoniously entwined with a subtle, smoky barrel-ferment and flinty underlay. Dry to taste, full and openly expressed, the flavours of herbs, greengage and nectarines build gently and show some sweetness. Good acid balance adds lusciousness, and the wine flows smoothly across the palate. This has an understated, but positive core and drive that carry the flavours to a moderately sustained, flinty finish. This is a smooth, open and harmonious Sauvignon Blanc with gentle barrel-ferment influence. Serve with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 3+ years. 512 cases made. 17.5+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $24.95
