A blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec from the ‘Mudbrick’ and ‘Shepherds Point’ vineyards, indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 35% new French oak. Very dark, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegant with a soft core of black and redcurrant fruit entwined with mint and fragrant herbs, and a little leafiness. Medium-full bodied, the palate features moderately concentrated black and redcurrant fruit harmoniously melded with herb and leafy elements. The fruit is lively and aromatic, quite primary in expression. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded, with fine-grained, powdery tannins lending a refined, dry texture. The fruit sweetness is enhanced by crisp and fresh acidity which carries the wine to an elegant, sustained finish. This is a fresh, harmonious Merlot and Cabernet blend with succulent curranty fruit and aromatic herbal notes, and fine tannins.
