Mudbrick ‘Reserve’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 15-Jun-2015
Even ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on edge. The nose is softly voluminous with ethereal soft red berry fruit fragrances combined with savoury herbal detail at the core. Lifted florals and confectionary-like whole berry fermentation elements unfold, along with spices and liquorice with time in the glass. Medium-bodied and elegantly presented, gently luscious flavours of soft red berry fruits are lifted by red florals, piquant herbs and notes of confectionary. The mouthfeel features soft tannin textures and a fine grip, along with balanced and discreet acidity. The wine has a softly concentrated core and follows a fine line, leading to an elegant, lingering dry finish of red cherry fruit and herbs. This is a gently luscious and fragrant red-fruited Pinot Noir with soft tannin extraction and pretty florals. Serve with poultry and pork, and with Asian fare over the next 5+ years. Pinot Noir fruit from the ‘Aurum’ vineyard, Pisa Flats, indigenous yeast fermented with 7% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 7 months in 25% new French oak. 330 cases made. 17.5/20 Jun 2015 RRP $48.00
