The major portion of the fruit from the ‘Deans’ vineyard, Waipara, the remainder from Marlborough and a small amount from Nelson, ‘warm’ fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and 5.2 g/L rs, the wine aged 3 months on lees. Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour. This has a fresh and lively bouquet with good volume of lifted yellow stonefruits along with notes of pears and some flinty lees work. Dry to taste, light flavours of stonefruits, pears and honey are entwined with mineral and apple-like notes. The mouthfeel is fresh and bright, with gentle, crisp acidity and soft textures. A little alcohol warmth is noticeable. The acid provides the linearity and energy for drive and carries the light, clean fruity flavours to a delicate, sustained finish. This is a light and fresh dry Pinot Gris with some alcoholic warmth. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. 16.5+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $21.99
