Mud House ‘Single Vineyard’ ‘Home Block’ Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Oct-2018
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, very pale on the rim. The nose is elegant and finely expressed with taut and concentrated aromas of white stonefruits entwined with mouthwatering mineral elements, unfolding some exotic floral, pear and has a rounded but concentrated core with rich layers of flavour detail, showing white stonefruits, a little honeysuckle and white florals, unfolding pear and mineral suggestions. The mouthfeel is soft, but the core is firm and drives the wine with good linearity. The acidity is soft and balanced, and the wine carries to a lingering, nuanced finish. This is an elegantly concentrated dryish Pinot Gris with rounded mouthfeel and white stonefruit, floral and honeysuckle detail on a linear palate. Serve with poultry, pork and veal over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Home Block’ vineyard, Waipara, vines planted 2002, fermented in stainless-steel with a portion in seasoned French oak barriques to 14.0% alc. and 6.5 g/L RS, , the wine aged on gross lees. 18.5-/20 Oct 2018 RRP $22.99
