Mud House ‘Single Vineyard’ ‘Dambuster’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Dec-2015
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with lighter purple hues on the rim. This has a tightly bound and firm nose of good presence, showing dark cherry and berry fruits with raspberry notes at the core, unfolding a soft floral and spice amalgam with nuances of dark herbs and minerals. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, this palate features a tight and finely concentrated core of dark red cherry and berry fruit entwined with spices, herbs and minerals. Florals emerge along with minerally detail. The palate line has a firm linearity and drive, underlined by fine-grained tannins, the acidity integrated and balanced. The wine carries to a long, elegant, nuanced finish of berryfruit, florals and spices. This is an elegantly firm, tightly bound Pinot Noir with cherry and raspberry fruit. It will unfold more interest and richness over the next 4-5+ years. Clones 5, 777, 114, 667 and Abel, from the ‘Woolshed’ vineyard, hand-picked, destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 25% new French oak. 18.0+/20 Jan 2016 RRP $39.99
