Mud House Marlborough Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Oct-2018
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues and some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh, full and broad with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with subtle notes of nuts and chalky minerals. Suggestions of honeysuckle unfold in the glass. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is softly packed with sweetly rich and rounded flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits melded with honeysuckle notes and floral elements, with some thirst-quenching minerals. This has good palate presence and the fruit forms a weighty core. The wine flows smoothly along a fine-textured, soft line with an edge of acid freshness, leading to a light, lingering finish. This is a full, soft and broad medium-dry Pinot Gris with good palate richness and weight, showing stonefruits and honeysuckle. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from contract growers in the Wairau Valley, fermented in stainless-steel with a portion in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.5% alc. and 8.0 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Oct 2018 RRP $14.99
