Mr. Riggs ‘The Truant’ McLaren Vale Shiraz 2010

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 29-Jun-2012
Very full, dense, impenetrable black-red colour. This has a tight bouquet of black peppery fruit and Asian spices, lifted with sweet eucalypt, mint and toasty oak nuances. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of black berry and peppery fruits are a little shy, but show sweetness and ripeness. The tannin extraction is moderate, providing a soft textured line, and the finish is soft, spicy and lingering. This traditional Shiraz features the fruit in a soft, accessible way to enjoy with pastas and casseroles over the next 4-5 years. A tribute to forebear John William Riggs who wagged school to begin working for a living, but became a successful farmer. His signature, an ‘X' is pictured on the label. Fruit from a variety of McLaren Vale vineyards, fermented to 14.5% alc., and matured in 30% new French oak. 1,152 dozen made. 17.0+/20 Mar 2012 RRP AU$17.00
