Mount Riley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Nov-2015
Ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. This has a light, bright and fresh, aromatic nose with perfumed red cherry fruit along with nuances of raspberries and red florals, revealing liquorice elements. This is elegantly present, up-front and uncomplicated. Medium-bodied, the palate features lively and juicy dark red cherry and berry fruits, along with fresh acidity. The wine flows with good energy and drive, following a light, supple, finely extracted line. Raspberry liqueur, liquorice and red florals unfold to provide a layer of interest, and the wine carries to a soft-textured, gently fruity finish. This is a soft, bright, up-front raspberry and cherry-fruited Pinot Noir with easy accessibility. Serve with antipasto and with Asian fare over the next 2-3 years. Wairau Valley fruit given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in French oak barriques. 16.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $21.99
