Mount Riley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Jun-2014
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with light, youthful purple hues on rim. The nose is soft, light and harmoniously presented with aromas of ripe strawberry fruit, hints of spices, herbs and an intriguing bergamot citrus note. Medium-bodied, light, sweet fruit flavours of strawberries and raspberries are entwined with soft herb, orange and red floral elements, building to form a good core and firm line. The palate has good vinosity and presence, with the extraction providing plenty of mouthfeel. The wine is carried by the structure to a soft-textured, dry, lingering finish. This is a soft, textural Pinot Noir with underlying sweet strawberry flavours. Match with duck and pork dishes over the next 4 years. Fruit from a number of different sites in the Wairau Valley, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $17.99
