Mount Riley ‘Late Release’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Jul-2014
Fruit from the Wairau and Awatere valleys, stainless-steel fermented with 10% in barrel to 12.5% alc. and 8 g/L RS. Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on edge. This has a very delicate and subtly nuanced bouquet of white stonefuits and honeysuckle, with delicate minerally suggestions, the aromatics pure and clear, building with depth with aeration. Off-dry and medium-bodied, attractive aromatic fruit flavours of florals, white stonefruits and honeysuckle show with a delicate richness. The fruit sweetness is balanced by light, grainy, drying phenolics. There is good presence, texture and linearity, leading to a very light, dry, lingering finish. This is a delicately flavoured, off-dry Pinot Gris with some phenolic textures. Match with white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. 16.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $14.99
