Mount Patriarch Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Mar-2015
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on rim. The nose is fresh and elegant in expression with tightly bound and intense aromas of vibrant primary dark raspberry fruit along with spicy dark plum notes and some oak lift. Medium-bodied, the palate features a tightly held core of dark raspberry fruit flavours with harmonious and balanced oaking. The wine follows a fine-grained tannin line with good concentration, acid energy and drive. This has a firmness to the core. The flavours carry to a long and sustained, dry, textural finish. This is a fresh, dark raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with an elegant and firm structure. Match with wild duck and pork over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Patriarch’ vineyard, including Abel clone, fermented to 12.9% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 14% new French oak barriques. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5-/20 Mar 2015 RRP $24.95
