Mount Patriarch Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Mar-2015
Fruit from the ‘Patriarch’ vineyard, a portion cool-fermented in tank leaving some residual sugar, the rest warmer fermented to dryness, then blended to 13.2% and 5.1 g/L RS, the wine aged up to 3 months on lees. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is fresh and bright with aromatic pear fruit and lifted yeast esters and yellow florals, unfolding a hint of honeysuckle. This has a refreshing steeliness at the core. Off-dry to taste and medium-light bodied, ethereal and aomatic fruit flavours of pears, stonefruits and honeysuckle form a gentle core and flow smoothly along a fine, dry-textured line. Soft, balanced acidity adds to the rounded mouthfeel and adds to the up-front, uncomplicated expression. The flavours carry with positive energy to a light, lingering finish. This is a soft, light, aromatic and off-dry Pinot Gris with a smooth and easy flow. Match with mild Asian fare over the next 2+ years. Certified BioGro organic. 16.0/20 Mar 2015 RRP $17.95
