Mount Patriarch Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Dec-2013
Bright, very pale straw colour, pale on rim. This has a fresh, full and intensely aromatic bouquet of exotic florals, esters and rose-petals with honey and musky elements. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, flavours of exotic stonefruits, musk and honey are the feature and are encased by a soft, oily, subtly unctuous palate. Soft, clean and lacy acidity is in the background, allowing the rounded mouthfeel and fine underlying textures carry the flavours along a well-weighted line. The wine leads to a moderately long finish with floral and honeysuckle nuances. This is a soft-textured, exotic, off-dry Pinot Gris to match with Asian fare over the next 2-+3 years. Fruit from the ‘Patriarch’ vineyard cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.65% alc. and 4.6- g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.0/20 Dec 2013 RRP $19.95
