Mount Michael The Mountaineer Pinot Noir 2021, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 06-Nov-2022
Deep ruby-red with a black shade, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and gentle, with penetrating aromas of dark cherry, plum, herb, undergrowth and black pepper. Medium-bodied, densely full aromas of dark cherry and plum melded with savoury mushroom, undergrowth, black pepper and herb. The mouthfeel is smooth with supple tannin extraction; balanced, lively acidity provides strength and freshness to the dark and savoury toned aromatics. This dark-fruited, savoury Pinot Noir possesses concentration and a supple tannin line. Match with smoked duck and lamb koftas over the next 5 years. Fruit was sourced from Alexandra, Pisa and Bendigo sub-regions, handpicked, fermented with a small portion of whole bunches to 13.5% alc, aged in French oak barriques, best barrels selection. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $32.99
