Mount Michael The Mountaineer Pinot Gris 2022, Central Otago

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 06-Nov-2022
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow. This has a crisp, fragrant bouquet with young pear and apple aromas melded with honeysuckle and a hint of ginger spice. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, honeysuckle and lily packed the palate, underlying apple, pear and subtle pickled ginger. The wine is intensely fragrant, and lively acidity carries refreshing fruit and spice to linearity. This Pinot Gris shows floral, crisp fruit and ginger layers with a poised structure and clean flow. Match with fish tacos and pork dumplings over the next 3 years. Fruit from Queensbury 70% and Earnscleugh 30%, handpicked, 15% wild fermented in barrel, remaining fermented and aged in stainless steel. 13% alc, 4 g/l RS. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $24.50
