Mount Edward ‘Morrison Vineyard’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 22-May-2013
Certified organic fruit, clones 667, 777 and 115 from the 8 ha ‘Morrison' vineyard in Lowburn, wild yeast fermented with approx. 20% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in approx. 25% new French oak. Dark ruby-red colour with good depth and youthful purple hues. This has a full, solid nose of vibrant, ripe, dark red berry and black plum fruit aromas, showing excellent intensity and concentration. A full-bodied wine on palate, this is rich, fleshy, and near opulent with its ripe dark berry and plum fruit flavours. This has density and depth. The extraction is very fine and underlines the fruit sweetness providing velvet-smooth textures. The tannins also contribute to a long, fruit-nuanced finish. This is a bold, sumptuous wine to match with beef and lamb dishes over the next 5-6+ years. 120 cases made. RRP $65.00
