Mount Brown Waipara Valley Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Aug-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, light edged. The nose is soft and restrained with subtly interwoven aromas of lime fruit, toast and mouthwatering wet-stone minerals that unfold with interest and nuance. Medium-dry to taste and medium-light bodied, soft flavours of lime fruit are entwined with toast, honey and minerals, the fruit showing some richness, talc-like detail and secondary suggestions. The palate follows a fine phenolic line with dry textures appearing and fresh, thirst-quenching acidity in the background. The wine carries through to a moderately long, dry finish. This is a soft textured, off-dry Riesling with lime-like fruit, and honied toast nuances. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 3-4 years. Predominantly clone 198-19 with some 110, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.4% alc. and 10 g/L RS, and pH 3.11, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 17.0+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $14.99
