Mount Brown Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 25-Jan-2017
Even ruby-red colour with purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is firmly packed with an amalgam of fresh, primary, raspberry and cherry fruit aromas melded with notes of fresh herbs and minerally reduction, unfolding red liquorice with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate is fresh and bright with sweet primary fruit flavours of red cherries and nuances of raspberries, along with a layering of fresh herbs and red liquorice. The fruit is light in expression and enlivened by crisp, lacy acidity, and underlined by light, supple tannin extraction. The flavours recede as the wine flows, leading to a light, clean, dry finish. This is a light, sweetly fruited, primary flavoured Pinot Noir with cherry and herb notes on a lively, light-structured palate. Serve with tuna, salmon and poultry dishes over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Mount Brown Estates’ vineyard, fermented partially with indigenous yeasts with approx. 5% whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 30 days on skins and aged 8 months in 22% new French oak. An early bottling, Lot L1. 16.5/20 Jan 2017 RRP $21.99
