Mount Brown Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 31-Mar-2015
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on edge. This is elegantly presented on bouquet with good depth and intensity of ripe dark raspberry fruit lifted by red and violet florals, unveiling a subtle herbal layering. Medium-full bodied, plush and succulent raspberry and black berry fruit flavours are entwined with liquorice and spice elements, forming an elegant core and line. Violet perfumes add to the fruit aromatics and the fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin structure and fresh, lacy, balancing acidity. The oaking is sensitive, and the wine flows evenly and with good vitality carrying through to a sustained, dry finish with raspberry and liquorice nuances. This is an elegant and finely structured Pinot Noir with succulent and vibrant aromatic fruit. Match with Asian duck and Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 5-6 years. Davis and Dijon clone fruit destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine on skins 10 days post ferment and aged 18 months in 20% new French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Mar 2015 RRP $18.99
