Mount Brown Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Aug-2014
Davis and Dijon clone fruit from the ‘Mount Brown’ estate, destemmed, given a cold soak and partially indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in French oak barriques. Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with light garnet hues on edge. The bouquet is softly full with harmoniously presented aromas of savoury and earthy red berry fruits along with gently complexing notes of dried herbs, along with a touch of camphor and resinous oak elements. Medium-full bodied, softly-packed and mellow flavours of savoury and earthy red fruits intermingle with dried herb notes and a little leather and undergrowth. The fruit is underlined by dry, granular tannin extraction providing density and presence, with solid mouthfeel. Layers of earth and resinous oak unfold and are carried by an acid enhanced line to a dry finish. This is a softly concentrated Pinot Noir with complex earthy red fruits and dry, grainy structure. Serve with casseroles and game meat dishes over the next 4 years. 16.5+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $19.99
