Moss Wood ‘Ribbon Vale Vineyard’ Margaret Valley Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - Western Australia
Review Date : 13-Apr-2012
59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 25 months in 38% new French oak barrels. Very dark ruby-red colour, even, this has an elegant and very refined, but concentrated bouquet of blackcurrant fruit with plums, dark herbs, eucalypt and cedar, along with floral perfumes that unfold in the glass. Medium-full bodied, this is beautifully presented with fruit flavours of cassis and ripe dark plums, lifted with violet notes. The palate is juicy and luscious, yet stylishly restrained. Very fine tannin textures are balanced with acidity, resulting in suppleness and classy proportions and harmony. The wine has a very long, sustained, sweet fruited finish. This will drink well over the next 6-8+ years.  18.5+/20  Apr 2012  RRP $65.50
