Moss Wood ‘Ribbon Vale Vineyard’ Margaret River Merlot 2009

Merlot from Australia - Western Australia
Review Date : 13-Apr-2012
95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 25 months in 35% new French oak barrels. Moderately deep ruby-red with garnet hues, this has a very fine and elegant bouquet of earthy dark plum fruits along with a little mintiness, all expressed with a lacy delicacy. Medium-full bodied, the palate is extremely rich, juicy and luscious with plump, dark plum and earthy fruit flavours, plus some mint elements. The wine is mouthfilling in flavour, and texturally supported by very fine-grained tannins. The acidity is discreet, adding to the softness. Drink over the next 5-7 years.  18.5-/20  Apr 2012  RRP $65.50
