Mora Chardonnay 2022, Central Otago

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 12-May-2023
Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full, with aromas of stonefruit, citrus, flint, ginger and notes of yoghurt. Medium-bodied, aromas of apricot and peach melded with a touch of grapefruit, and a suggestion of guava, delicate white spice and ginger tingle the palate, unveiling minerals, flint and creamy yoghurt nuances. The mouthfeel is refined, flows smoothly with fine-textured phenolics and lacy, juicy acidity. This silky, delicately textured Chardonnay possesses soft, lush fruit with a well-balanced, attractive acid line. Match with langoustine ravioli and crab cakes over the next 5 years. Fruit from Eden Vineyard in Pisa subregion, clone 6 and 28-y-o Mendoza, handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented in barrel, partially wild, underwent full MLF, aged for 9 months in barrel, 20% new oak. 13.5% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) May 2023 RRP $45
