Montford Estate Pinot Noir 2020, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 30-Nov-2021
Bright, deep ruby-red with medium-light intensity, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with brooding aromas of blackberries and plum, underlined black pepper, dark herb and a hint of mocha. Medium-bodied, blackberries, plum and chocolate entwined with black pepper and dark herb. The fruit is succulent and has a good flavour depth; enriched by a powdery grip of tannin extraction, lingers with dark chocolate richness. Match with venison and grilled lamb chops over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Southern Valleys, fermented in open-top fermenters and stainless steel with small amount of whole bunch to 13.5% alc, matured in older French oak for 18 months, 10% new oak. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Nov 2021 RRP $24.95
