Montford Estate Pinot Gris 2020, Marlborough

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Oct-2020
Bright, even, golden-straw-yellow with some depth. The nose is soft, a whiff of white floral perfume makes an entry, entwined with stonefruit and pear, lingers with a gingery undertone. Medium-bodied, sweet pears, ripe nectarines interweave an amalgam of white florals; old ginger nuances linger on the finish. An opulent oily mouthfeel carries fine phenolic texture, supported by lively acidity, brings to lush fruited, gingery finish. The flavours are in harmony and well-proportioned. Match with confit duck legs and chicken yakitori over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from 70% Redwood Hills, Awatere Valley and 30% Wairau Bar Home Block, Wairau Valley. Fermented in stainless steel 85% and tanks 15% to 14% alc, 4 g/l RS. Aged on lees for 4 months. Vegan friendly. 17.5+/20 pts Oct 2020
