Montford Estate Manny 2019, Hawke’s Bay

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Oct-2020
Brilliant, deep ruby-purple with some transparency, even colour throughout. The nose is soft and gentle, nuances of cassis, dark cherries and plums, enlivened by tobacco, cedar and spices aromas. Dry, medium-full bodied, soft flavours of cassis and dark fruit enriched by tobacco and cedar. Powdery spices and liquorice lingering on the finish. The flavours are upfront, and the mouthfeel is bright and lively with fresh acidity. The fruit is underlying a grainy-textured structure; the tannin carries the wine to a dry finish. This is a cedary Cabernet blend with cassis, cherry and plum fruit along with tobacco notes on a lively palate with a grainy grip. Match with barbeque meat and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3 years. Blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 24% Merlot and 3% Tempranillo. 13.5% alc. Vegan friendly. 16/20 pts Oct 2020 RRP $19.95
