Montford Estate Chardonnay 2021, Marlborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Jun-2022
Bright, even, pale yellow-gold. The nose is softly full and crisp, aromas of apple, pear and stonefruit melded with a hint of mineral and flint. Full-bodied, aromas of apple, pear intermixed stonefruit, and creaminess, almond emerged. Fine-textured phenolics reminiscent of apple skins added mouthfeel. Lively acidity presents freshness and a gentle flow. This forward-fruited Chardonnay shows juicy fruit and a hint of nuttiness on a smooth-flowing palate with fine texture. Match with fish & chips and fried chicken over the next 2-3 years. 100% Chardonnay fruit sourced from 77% Southern Valleys, 18% Wairau Valley, 5% Awatere Valley, machine harvested, destemmed, fermented in a mix of barriques, hogsheads and French cigar barrels to 14% alc, left on lees for 11 months, 30% new oak, underwent MLF. 17+/20 pts (86 pts) June 2022 RRP $19.95
