Montechez ‘Reserve’ Mendoza Malbec 2011

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 10-Jul-2014
Full, even, black-ruby red colour with youthful purple hues. The bouquet is fresh and slender in expression with tightly bound aromas of dark red berry fruit, along with notes of dark herbs, pepper and steely, minerals. Medium-full bodied and elegant in proportion, tightly bound, intense and deep flavours of black and red berry fruits, spiced plums, pepper and herbs unfold with succulence and juiciness. The fruit is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and guided by a fine-grained, moderately firm tannin line. The wine leads to a fine-textured, dry, spicy nuanced finish. A little shy on bouquet, this tight, elegant and finely textured Malbec reveals sweet and spicy fruit flavours. Match with roast pork, lamb and beef over the next 5-7 years. Fruit from 1050 m.a.s.l. from San Carlos, in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, fermented to 14.7% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French and American oak. 17.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $30.00
