Montechez ‘Limited Edition’ Mendoza Malbec 2011

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 03-May-2015
Full, near impenetrable black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly proportioned with well-concentrated and intensely penetrating aromas of ripe blackberry and plum fruit, lifted by fragrant new oak with cedar and pencil shavings elements. Medium-full bodied, finely concentrated and deep flavours of black berried fruits, spicy plums and liquorice are entwined with fragrant and aromatic, cedary new oak layers. The wine flows with good energy and tension, with discreet acidity lending freshness, and the fruit is underlined by fine-grained, flowery tannins, resulting in a refined structure and mouthfeel. The wine leads to a very long spicy, cedary, new oak flavoured finish. This is an elegant, refined and concentrated Malbec with spicy, cedary new oak interest. Serve with roasted game meat dishes over the next 6-8+ years. 100% Malbec from San Carlos, Uco Valley, hand-picked and fermented to 14.6% alc., the wine aged 16 months in new French oak barrels. 18.5/20 May 2015 RRP $46.00
