Montechez ‘Limited Edition’ Mendoza Cabernet Franc 2011

Cabernet Franc from Argentina
Review Date : 10-Jul-2014
Fruit from San Carlos in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, fermented to 14.7% alc., the wine aged 16 months in new French oak barrels. Very full, near-impenetrable, black-hued ruby-red colour. This has a refined and aromatic bouquet of ripe, dark redcurrant and plum fruit with herbal detail, harmoniously melded with complexing cedar and vanilla oak, the nose building in depth and intensity with aeration. Full bodied, tightly concentrated and intensely penetrating flavours of blackberries, red currants and plums are infused with spicy, cedary and sweet oak notes. The fruit is supported by fine-grained, powdery tannins from considerable extraction, and positive alcoholic power. Discreet acidity lends energy and enhances the drive, and the palate leads to a very long, sustained, fine-textured finish with spicy, cedary oak. This is a very tightly bound and intensely flavoured, curranty Cabernet Franc with spicy, cedary oak and powdery tannins. Match with roast beef, lamb and venison, and with hard cheeses over the next 7-10 years. 18.0+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $49.00
