Light ruby-red colour with some depth, pale on the edge with purple tints. The nose is tightly bound and firmly packed with aromas of ripe, dark-red cherry fruit, along with a little dark plum, with spice notes and ethereal dark herb elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is lively with fresh flavours of savoury red cherry fruit entwined with spices, plums and dark herbs. The mouthfeel features brisk acidity which enlivens the mouthfeel and enriches the fruit. Moderately extracted grainy tannins support the flavours, and the wine flows with fresh energy to a lingering, racy, savoury-fruited finish. This is a rich, but savoury fruited Pinot Noir with plum and spice notes on a brisk, grainy-textured palate. Match with duck and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury, destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged with seasoned French oak. 16.5/20 Jul 2017 RRP $16.99
