Monowai Crownthorpe Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 30-Mar-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is fresh and tightly bound with elegantly concentrated aromas of gooseberries, limes and herbs, the fruit expressed with simplicity and purity. Dry to taste and light-bodied, the fruit flavours of gooseberries and fresh herbs are lifted by nuances of limes and tropical fruits. The fruit expression is restrained and light, and follows a fine, grainy phenolic line. The mouthfeel is balanced with fresh acidity and dry textures leading to a light finish. This is a soft, dry and light, gooseberry fruited Sauvignon Blanc. Serve as an aperitif, and with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. Fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 7 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 weeks on lees, undergoing batonnage. 16.0+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $16.00
