Monmarthé ‘Coup de Cours’ Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 13-Jun-2016
Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow, paler on edge. The bead is persistent and moderately fine. This has a very elegant, tightly concentrated nose with intense and penetrating aromas of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with delicate nutty and oxidative complexities and fine, bready-yeasty autolysis. Some waxy detail unfolds to add interest. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features tightly concentrated and intense flavours of yellow stonefruits along with apples and nuts, and refined yeasty autolysis. The flavours form a fine, deep heart and the wine flows with good tension and poise along a fine-textured phenolic line. The effervescence and acidity lend liveliness and vitality to the mouthfeel, and the wine leads to a light, but complex-nuanced finish. This is a concentrated and intense Champagne with complexing nutty detail and a fine core and line. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 3 years. A blend of 50% each Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from 3 vintages, fermented to 12.0% alc., and 2 g/L dosage. Lot LCCL/P45 18.0/20 Jun 2016 RRP $65.90
