Mondillo ‘Nina’ Bendigo Central Otago Late Harvest Riesling 2012

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 27-Sep-2012
Riesling fruit from the ‘Mondillo' vineyard with 70% botrytis infection, fermented to 9.5% alc. and 198 g/L rs, with 11.9 g/L TA and pH 3.23. Bright, pale straw colour with green hues, pale on edge This has a very tightly bound nose with very concentrated aromas of white florals, minerals, limes and savoury honeysuckle, revealing detailed talc botrytis notes and a suggestion of herbs. Very sweet, the richness and penetration of acacia florals, limes, savoury honey are balanced by rapier-like acidity and the finest textural thread. This has unctuousness, allied to great drive and palate line, the flavours flowing seamlessly. Very tightly bound, the concentration carries through to a very long, sustained finish with decadent honey, talc and floral notes beautifully poised on the acidity. This is a very rich, sweet, but racy late-harvest Riesling that will develop greater decadence and become rounder over the next 5-6+ years. Serve with fruit desserts and blue cheeses. 110 dozen made. (375 ml) 18.5+/20 Sep 2012 RRP $28.00 (Release date: 1 Nov 2012)
