Mondillo ‘Nina’ Bendigo Central Otago Late Harvest Riesling 2011

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 03-Aug-2011
This is the first release of a late harvest Riesling style from the ‘Mondillo' vineyard at Bendigo. Named ‘Nina' it is a tribute to Domenic Mondillo's mother Giovanina. Late harvested fruit cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. with 93 g/L rs. Light straw-yellow colour with some green hues to the colour, this has a gently rich nose of acacia blossom and honey, soft, full and with good intensity. A sweet wine, the palate has lovely honey, jasmine florals, and lime juice. It is softly concentrated, with good body and depth, all the componentry being seamlessly integrated. The acidity is soft, contributing to an unctuous texture, and a long, sustained spiced honey flavoured finish. Serve as an aperitif or match with fruit desserts and blue cheeses over the next 4-5+ years. (375 ml) 18.0+/20 Aug 2011 RRP $28.00
