Mondillo Bendigo Central Otago Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 08-Sep-2014
Even, pale straw yellow colour, with some depth. Soft lime fruit and white and exotic floral aromas show a degree of freshness and youth. The beginnings of honey and toast are just appearing. The bouquet builds in depth and unfolds in volume to show very good presence. This wine is beginning to show its full character. Dryish to taste, the palate is smooth and soft, with very fine textures. Lovely lime and floral fruit, with honeysuckle and suggestions of toast providing restrained richness. The mouthfeel exudes balance and integration, and the wine carries to a very long and sustained finish. Drink over the next 3-4+ years. 18.5+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $N/A Very pale straw colour, this has a very fine and beautifully delicate, but intense bouquet of lime fruits, jasmine florals, sherbet and citrus zest, along with nuances of honey and minerals. Dry to taste, the flavours of floral-infused fruits, jasmine and minerals are expressed with great delicacy and subtle concentration. The palate is underscored by fine, lacy acidity and a little alcoholic drive through to a poised and very fine-textured finish. Fruit from the ‘Mondillo' vineyard at Bendigo, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 9.2 g/L rs. A very attractive wine to serve as an aperitif, or match with lightly spiced Asian cuisine over the next 5-6+ years. 18.5+/20 Aug 2011 RRP $26.00
