Moko Hills Kakano Pinot Noir 2022, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 14-May-2024
Deep crimson with a purple hue, faintly lighter on the rim. The nose is captivating and broody, with aromas of dark fruit, thyme, medicinal herbs and game. Medium-full bodied, aromas of black cherry and blackberry entwined with thyme, liquorice, lavender, undergrowth and a hint of game. The wine is attractive, brightly fruited with lacy acidity, rich herbs and savoury details enrich and add interest. The whole bunch element contributes to rich floral and medical herbs characters. The velvety tannin uniforms all the components and lingers to a long, perfumed finish. This Bendigo Pinot Noir is charming and intriguing, dark, perfumed and finely structured. Match with herb-crusted lamb and roasted duck over the next 10 years. 100% Able clone whole bunch fermented with natural yeast, 16 days on skins, aged in old French oak barrels for 12 months, underwent MLF in spring. Unfined, unfiltered. 13.5% alc. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) May 2024 RRP $40
