Moko Hills Chardonnay 2021, Central Otago

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 14-May-2024
Slight hazy(unfiltered), even, pale yellow. This has a gentle, precise bouquet with aromas of citrus, floral, stonefruit, delicate spice and a touch of yeasty pastry nuance. Medium-bodied, aromas of lemon, lemon zest and a suggestion of pink grapefruit entwined with apricot, delicate spice, white blossom and minerals. Fine-textured phenolic is smooth-flowing with a lightly chalky texture; subtle oak influence elevates and contributes to complexity. The fruit is lifted and elegantly composed, and acid tension persists with precision to a refined, long finish. This stunning Chardonnay is precise and rustically refined with purity and delicate layers, lending a captivating palate and linearity. Match with scampi and blue cod over the next 5+ years. Clones UCD15 and B95, whole bunch pressed and full solids to 100% French oak, natural yeast fermentation to 13.4% alc, lees stirred, aged 12 months in barrel, underwent MLF in spring. 19.5-/20 pts (97 pts) May 2024 RRP $59
