Moet & Chandon ‘Grand Vintage’ Champagne 2002

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 17-Apr-2011
A blend of 51% Chardonnay, 26% Pinot Noir and 23% Pinot Meunier, with a dosage of 5.5 g/L rs, and spending 7 years on lees. Soft, pale straw-yellow colour with some persistence of bubbles, this has a very fine, tight bouquet of beautifully pure citrus and floral notes, very much Chardonnay in expression, along with fine, intense bready autolysis. Dry on palate, this has very intense and concentrated citrus and white stonefruit flavours, enlivened by racy acidity. This is a wine of clarity and great precision, possessing line and length, but needing some time to come out of its austerity. This will develop greater richness over the next 6-8+ years.  Apr 2011
