Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with black-purple hues. The nose is full, broad and voluminous with aromas of bright and ripe dark red cherry and berry fruit along with plum and liquorice notes, unfolding spicy oak with cedar and toast nuances. Harmoniously interwoven herbal layers emerge in the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate features full, up-front, rich and plush fruit flavours of dark red cherries and plums, entwined with liquorice, spicy oak and toast notes. The fruit is underlined by soft, grainy tannins and integrated acidity adds to the fruit softness and richness. The palate line unveils a subtle herbal note and the wine carries to an elegant, fresh finish with lacy acidity. This is an up-front, rich and juicy Pinot Noir with cherry, plum and spicy oak flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5 years. Clone 667 and 777 fruit from Martinborough, hand-picked and destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 16 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 105 dozen made. 18.0/20 Nov 2015 RRP $45.00
