Moana Park ‘Single Vineyard Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2014

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Apr-2015
Light bronze-yellow colour, pale edged. The nose is youthfully tight and fresh with finely concentrated aromas of exotic white florals and root ginger interwoven with nutty oak and lees elements and lifted with nuances of yeast esters. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is tightly bound with intense and concentrated flavours of ginger, apricots, nuts and exotic florals. The mouthfeel features a fine, grainy phenolic thread and background acidity that carries the wine with good energy and drive, leading to a fine-featured finish with some fruit richness and good length. This is a very tightly bound and concentrated dry Viognier with ginger, tropical fruits and nuts and a fine palate line. It will become richer over the next 3-4 years. Serve with most white meat dishes and Mediterranean fare. 100% clone UDC1 Viognier from the ‘Gimblett Road’ vineyard, hand-picked and fermented in seasoned oak on skins and solids to 13.0% alc. and dryness, the wine aged 12 months in old French oak barriques with batonnage. 150 dozen made. 17.0+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $45.00
