Moana Park ‘Single Vineyard Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-May-2016
Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is firm with finely presented but richly concentrated aromas with citrus and yellow stonefruits harmoniously layered with subtle, complexing flinty lees and steely minerals, and nutty, smoky and toasty oak. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated flavours of vibrant yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits show with lusciousness and succulence, and are melded with layers of gunflint reductive and lees complexities, and positive, nutty oak. The palate has depth and density, and is underlined by fine textures and soft acidity. The wine has positive floe and drive, and carries to a long, dry finish with nutty and toasty interest. This is a rich and harmonious layered Chardonnay with complex stonefruit, flint and nutty flavours. Match with roast poultry and pork over the next 4-5+ years. 100% Mendoza clone from a single vineyard, vines planted in 2005 on Type 1 Twyford Gravels, hand-picked, WBP and fully barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 45% new French oak barriques with full MLF. 300 dozen made. 18.5+/20 May 2016 RRP $45.00
