Moana Park Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2014

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 09-Apr-2015
Full, light bronze-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. This has a soft and light nose with ethereal aromas of apricots, honey, yellow florals and nuances of caramel, all harmoniously interwoven and gently presented. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has flavours of apricots, honey and caramel, unfolding nutty and floral elements in the glass. The wine flows smoothly with a suggestion of lusciousness and unctuousness. Slippery, crisp acidity underlines the fruit and the wine follows a fine phenolic line, driven by some alcohol power, carrying to s lush, softly concentrated finish. This is an apricot and honey flavoured dry Viognier with some richness and a slippery mouthfeel. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 2-3 years. A single vineyard wine, hand-picked fruit from the ‘Gimblett Road’ site, WBP and warm-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and dryness, the wine aged 12 months on lees. 16.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $25.00
