Moana Park Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2013

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Jul-2014
A single vineyard wine, the fruit from Gimblett Road, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc., and dryness, the wine bottled without oak contact. Full, bright straw-yellow colour with light lemony-gold hues, lighter on edge. The nose is richly packed with dense and deep aromas of ripe apricots, lifted with exotic florals and harmoniously melded with ginger and savoury stonefruit kernel notes. Dry and full-bodied, soft and rounded, rich fruit flavours of ripe exotic tropical fruits, apricots, honey and ginger form a concentrated core. The mouthfeel is weighty, decadent and plush, driven by plenty of alcohol power, with low acidity adding to the breadth on palate. As the wine flows, ethereal aromatic nuances blossom on the finish. This is a soft and densely packed, exotic Viognier with some alcohol heat. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. 17.5/20 Jul 2014 RRP $23.00
