Moana Park Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 07-Aug-2016
Full, dark, purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. This has a fresh, finely presented and fragrant nose with ripe blackberry fruit entwined with black pepper and subtle herbal notes along with black and violet florals. This is vibrant and primary, showing good concentration and intensity, revealing a little iron-earth and black mineral suggestions. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, the palate is softly concentrated with a heart of blackberry fruit, black pepper, spices and violet florals, harmoniously melded with earth and mineral nuances. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin structure and balanced acidity which carries the flavours to a firm and tight, fine-textured finish with spice and black pepper notes. This is an elegantly concentrated Syrah with black fruits and black pepper, and iron-earth mineral elements, and a fine, firm structure. Match with roasted red meats, and Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare over the next 5+ years. 100% Syrah from the estate ‘Gimblett Road’ vineyard, destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak barriques. 785 dozen made. 17.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $25.00
