Moana Park Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 31-Aug-2015
Full, even, light golden-yellow colour, a little lighter on edge. The nose is openly accessible and up-front with aromas of ripe tropical fruit, exotic yellow stonefruits and esters-lifted creamy barrel-ferment elements melded with MLF nuances. This is fresh and youthful in expression. Medium-full bodied, the palate features soft and plush layers of aromatic tropical fruits, lifted with creamy, toasty, barrel-ferment notes and MLF nuances. The fruit is rich and luscious and the wine flows smoothly along a fine and seamless core and line. Some alcoholic power emerges to provide warmth and drive, but fresh acidity and tension lends balance and carries the wine to a light, creamy, lifted finish. This is a creamy, smooth and aromatic Chardonnay with exotic tropical fruit, underlying power and fresh acid balance. Match with roast pork over the next 3-4 years. Mendoza clone fruit from a single site, fully-barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak barriques on lees with 100% MLF. 16.5+/20 Sep 2015 RRP $24.99
