Moana Park Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 08-Jun-2017
Bright, light golden-hued yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. This has a full, rounded and solidly packed bouquet of ripe, pungent exotic tropical fruit and root ginger aromas, along with some honey and musk, unfolding a layering of hair-oil secondary development. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has a rich, unctuous, rounded core with solidly concentrated flavours of root ginger, musk and savoury honey entwined with hair-oil secondary complexities. The palate is underlined by some alcohol drive and the wine flows along a rounded line with integrated acidity. The wine carries to an unctuous, savoury finish of root ginger and musk. This is a rich, weighty and unctuous dryish Gewurztraminer with a rounded, near-oily mouthfeel and flavours of root ginger, savoury honey and musk with secondary development interest. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from a single vineyard in Nelson, given a 24 hour cold soak and cool-fermented in tank to 14.0% alc. and 9 g/L RS. 265 dozen made. 16.5/20 Jun 2017 RRP $22.00
