Mitolo ‘Jester’ McLaren Vale Shiraz 2013

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 05-Apr-2015
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is light and restrained with soft, ripe, black berry and plum fruit aromas harmoniously interwoven with spicy, cedary oak. The aromatics are well-integrated and gently presented. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with a core of ripe black berried and plummy fruits melded with black pepper. The fruit is restrained in expression, gently unfolding layers of Asian spices and cedary oak. The mouthfeel is very smooth with integrated, supple and refined tannins, providing a balanced structure, and soft acidity that lends a degree of unctuousness. The flavours recede, leading to a light, dry finish. This is a very smooth and harmonious, stylishly restrained, black-fruited Shiraz with cedary oak. 100% Shiraz fruit from sites near Aldinga, fermented to 14.5% alc. and 2.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 18 months in 10% new oak. 17.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $32.99
